Ruusula Art Manor is located in the heart of the beautifully hilly and water-rich Haapavesi, near the centre of Finland. Ruusula’s location is not only easy to reach, but it also is exceptional in terms of nature, where you can experience the four distinct seasons and their own unique characteristics.
The winter in the north is a heart-pounding experience under a starry sky lit by frost. You can see the Northern Lights dance above the pristine nature, reflected in the bountiful snow and ice. The sunny south-facing plot of Ruusula is a delight with its varied vegetation. On bright summer nights, you can enjoy the wonderful peace of a summer night not only in the courtyard, but also in the clean waters and in the outdoor sauna on the nearby beach. Peaceful nature trails follow the coastline, and you can also follow them to the old vicarage yard in Paakkila to admire the colourful abundance of nature. In autumn, you can admire the golden fields of grain and taste our wonderful antioxidant-rich berries straight from nature.
The main building of the Ruusula Art Manor is over a century old and has been recently renovated, but done so with care and attention to the local tradition. It is now an idyllic accommodation, educational and cultural space with a wide range of possibilities. In Ruusula you can stay, train and relax, or even organise a family celebration. You can also rent the premises for business needs, for example for training or recreational purposes.
Ruusula Art Manor houses the studio and art gallery of artist Markus Tornberg. His versatile work is at the heart of the interior design of the lower and upper floors. You can also shop for art from the works on display or order your own. Live visual arts courses with the artist are planned for 2024
Ruusula’s atmospheric garden includes a main building, a courtyard building, a garage, a campfire site and a garden sauna.
At Ruusula Art Manor we organise a variety of events, short courses, retreats and longer training sessions, all with the aim of providing recreation and empowerment for visitors through a wide array of options. Our event services are organised by a diverse network of local businesses.
The main building has 7 bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a large and bright living room. The acoustics of the living room have been particularly praised by professional musicians and provide a great setting for a wide range of music-making.
Linen set includes a sheet, duvet cover, pillowcase, large towel and face towel. The beds are premade unless otherwise agreed. If you wish, please ask for a quotation with your own linens.
In the kitchen you will find a coffee maker, kettle, cooker with convection oven, microwave, tall fridge, fridge freezer, cooking and baking utensils; pots, frying pan, electric kettle, measures, ladles, scoops and whisks, plates, glasses, cups, cutlery, blender and serving utensils. You will also have access to a hairdryer, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
